She was hired to teach K-12 music in a tiny Arkansas town where she transformed her classroom into the interior of an airplane and her students “traveled the world” learning songs and information about music from other countries. After that, she was hired to teach 1st and 2nd period art at an alternative High School and the rest of her day was spent as the traveling art teacher for six elementary schools.
She developed portfolios for all the 3rd graders in the district who were then tested for the Gifted and Talented Art Program which she coordinated for the following four years.  When her own children were little she taught in the ‘Preschool Picasso’ summer program at the local Art Museum and also taught a class at the community college teaching Preschool teachers how to teach art.
